New Figure: Zollmen x OSM Astro-Nautlius

After the program of giant-size The Outer Space Men vinyl figures at pretty fair prices seems to have ended, we now have the reveal of the 50 piece 2024 ZOLLMEN X OSM ASTRO NAUTILUS BULLMARK SOFUBI figure.  It's a 12-inch figure styled to look like the Bullmark releases, which is good.  It's limited to 50, which isn't great.   It's $400, so I won't be buying one - on my browser it's a white price on a white background, so you won't be able to see it unless you highlight it or add to cart.

It's due around March, and will probably be one of the lowest-run items in the license.  It's super cool.

I like it. The Sofubi Pink Original Orbitron is a design I like, in a color I like, and Gary Schaeffer and Mel Birnkrant gave me a tour of the figure's ins and outs when I visited them in February of this year.

Review: Outer Space Men Sofubi Glow in the Dark Orbitron Action Figure

After over a hundred small figures at increasing prices, I dragged my feet on Sofubi Glow in the Dark Orbitron - obviously I want a glow guy, but I held off until it was in stock. I was given the opportunity to preview it during Toy Fair (thanks Gary and Mel!) and what we have here is pretty close to what I saw there - but it's a little shinier, and the joints are a little looser. It's not as solid as the Colossus Rex [FOTD #2,131] and it's also a bit taller than the "giant," with looser joints. I'm not loving that. The accessories are gorgeous, with a much more three-dimensional star accessory. When I got him, I set him up on a shelf - and he was missing when I came home. The leg joints are loose enough that gravity pulled him down and he was hanging from a shelf by his star, for dear life, for at least a little while. He's got a strong grip. Orbitron's claws may be the most perfect hands to grip any action figure accessory in quite some time.

This 12-inch Sofubi Glow in the Dark Colossus Rex was delayed a long time. Customs can take a while... and I have to say when the box finally showed up in October I was almost rolling my eyes, thinking "this can't possibly be worth the price and the wait." Well, it was, and it was. It's gorgeous. It's a glowing beacon. It's incredible and I'm glad they're planning on doing at least a few more of these.

The Next Outer Space Men Sofubi - The Man from Uranus!

On Instagram, we have confirmation that the second 12-inch vinyl figure for The Outer Space Men is Orbitron!  There's no release date yet and I believe the preview photo is just a black and white shot of an existing figure, but that's still news!

Coming soon to Five Points Fest, this 12-inch Colossus Rex looks pretty gosh-darned stunning. (And yes I want one.)  Take a gander!  More info as we have it.  It should be on sale June 2-3 at the convention in Brooklyn Expo Center.

The Colossus Rex 12” vinyl is magnificent. This is the 1968 blue variant color which as many of you know are super rare as these were a mistake that the factory accidentally made. A hundred or so in blue (the original is green) made it out and into America 50 years ago and today is one of the more sought out OSM variation. In 5 weeks at the #fivepointsfest this first of many new OSM in this format will make his appearance for the first time. There are 5 total colorways including tons of blanks for the artists to go berserk on. This is the most important new OSM in 50 years and the 50th anniversary celebration continues. I want to thank @cluttermagazine for their tireless and incredible perseverance in creating this work of art. Josh and Miranda have proven themselves as consummate artists, technicians and the best partners I’ve ever had.
