Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Terra Firma Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Terra Firma Action FigureOne of the first things I heard about the New York Comic Con release of Terra Firma was that her flag wasn't as awful as the San Diego Comic-Con release. The first thing I noticed was that the US flag has been trimmed of excess white, but the flag still seems to have the same adhesive problems which plagued the July version. On the bright side, everything else about the figure is pretty good.

New Infinity Edition Packaging Revealed

In case there was any doubt, the Infinity Edition of this year's six figures is moving ahead - it won't be here in time for Christmas, but this post shows packaging samples (with white figures inside) of Ohprometam, Jack Asteroid, Colossus Rex, Terra Firma, and Gamma X.  This completes the original 1960s character run, and may or may not conclude the new run - there are other characters on deck, so we'll probably know more in February.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Colossus Rex Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Colossus Rex Action FigureBucking three years of tradition, the New York Comic Con release of Colossus Rex is solid white rather than a clear color - typically the Beta Phase figures have brought us colorful variations on the designs, but this year the Four Horsemen opted to continue their White Star program. I have to say that this is a great way for you to actually see the sculpted detail on these figures. The clear green absorbs a lot of the work, and obfuscates the problems too. While I dig the clear green figure, white Colossus Rex has some fishy fin details, nice pointy teeth, and tons of scales on his person. The removable armor is still here, and the fists are a bit more forgiving of holding his weapons.

2013 Galactic Holiday Outer Space Men Revealed - They're Customs

http://www.sourcehorsemen.com/?p=1151
On December 10, at 3 PM EST, the 2013 Galactic Holiday action figures go on sale at Store Horsemen.  This year, they opted to do customs and according to the site, did a run of about 20 pieces - any over that order will be pre-orders and ship later.

There are two tiers - Galactic Holiday 2013 and Ultra Galactic Holiday.  Ultra Galactic Holiday are limited to 1 of each available for backorders with prices of $50-$65 each, the standard Galactic Holiday is $200 for the set or $35-$45 each.

While certainly an interesting twist, I do not collect custom figures.  It appears the Galactic Holiday figures may be redecorated SDCC 2013 Alpha Phase figures while the Ultras could be Beta Phase figures.  I will say this - the Ultra Ones look sharp.  If those were a regular mass-produced release, I'd totally buy a set.  Click here to see them on Source Horsemen.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Fire and Ice Electron+ Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Fire and Ice Electron+ Action FigureI was holding back on the other Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Edition figure reviews so I could say "it sold out!" Well, it didn't yet - the long-delayed Fire and Ice Electron+ is a pretty gorgeous low-run figure (to the tune of 200 pieces) and you can still get it, if you want, in a fairly priced set. The line as a whole seems to have found its audience to be increasingly more selective, with very few non-Infinity Edition figures selling through a) in a timely manner and/or b) at full price. As a supporter of the line from the word "go," it's unfortunate to see that there's a strong possibility that each and every one of these figures were purchased by individuals who, like myself, are writing reviews for them. (Seriously, the ratio of the run to reviewers is pretty high.)

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Horroscope Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Horroscope Action FigureWhile Terra Firma was forged from the stuff dreams are made of, Horroscope is more on the nightmare side. The head was originally designed for a male variant of Xodiac, which probably would be a lot less sexually confusing for any young men who stumble on this one in their dad's collections. (Generally speaking, if you see something involving large breasts and tentacles, these elements are not on the same person. Or so I've been told.)

Outer Space Men NYCC White Star Figures Arriving

The 2013 New York Comic Con Beta Phase Exclusive White Star Action Figures are shipping now - mine arrived Wednesday of this week (November 6) via USPS.  As far as I can tell, there was no ship notice.

For those who ask about delivery times in the future, orders were up on October 16 (I ordered on October 17), the item was postmarked on November 4, and it arrived November 6.

So that's 18 days to ship, 2 days to arrive for those keeping track.

Which proves what I've been saying all along, that FedEx - previously the exclusive means of delivery from Store Horsemen - sucks.  USPS tends to be a lot faster, so huzzah and kudos to the Horsemen to switching to a much faster and cheaper shipping method.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men White Star Inferno Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men White Star Inferno Action FigureI liked the idea of the White Star figures a bunch - blank white figures are great custom fodder, and I think would have made great debut releases rather than as third encores. White Star Inferno came out at a pretty high price-per-figure as a large boxed set, which I have no doubt limited its appeal to hardcore fans or hungry customizers. The set was marked down a significant chunk within a month of Comic-Con, which stung, and the set was followed up by a New York Comic Con set of six white figures based on the 2013 new characters.

Outer Space Men White Star NYCC Beta Phase Figures Up to Order Now

The New York Comic Con Exclusive Outer  Space Men Beta Phase White Star Action Figures (whew) are up for ordering at Store Horsemen now.  You can order them individually, as a set of 3, or as a complete set of 6.  There are no additional savings for ordering the 6-pack.

It's worth noting USPS shipping is now an option as well - for roughly half the price of FedEx, you can ship your stuff by the postal service.  It's also worth noting that the Power Lords exclusive figures will go up soon as well, so you may be well-served waiting another few hours to order the OSM as well as the new Power Lords in one big order to save even more on shipping.  (That's my plan, anyway.)

Also notable: the flags for Terra Firma and Jack Asteroid have been improved significantly, as you can see in the pictures.  Hoorah!

NYCC Outer Space Men Exclusives: Online Sale Wednesday

PSA: The Outer Space Men NYCC White Star edition are up for grabs on Wednesday while the Power Lords Ggrapptikk Grunts will go on sale this Thursday, October 17, at 3:00 PM Eastern.  The Outer Space Men are open to the public, while the Ggrapptikk Grunts are going to Fan Club members only - how this will be done, I'm not sure yet.  Also, it means you may not be able to order both at the same time, allowing Store Horsemen to double their workload and restrict saving you on shipping should you wish to buy both sets.

The Power Lords figures are $13 each, $25 for the pair, and/or 25% off for Club Members.

The Outer Space Men are $70 for the lot ($35 per 3-pack), or $11/16 each.

New White Star Outer Space Men for NYCC, Great Price

The follow-up to the SDCC White Star set is almost here!  New York Comic Con will get this sextet on October 10, while some will go on sale at Store Horsemen on or about October 14.  They are set to be sold at the Onell Design boothClick here for more.

The pricing is quite reasonable compared to the SDCC Alpha Wave and White Star Wave - figures are $11 for basics, $16 for deluxes, or $35 for a pack of 3.  Sadly there is no all-in six-pack discount, but the average per-figure price is now a swell $11.67.

For the record, the sets break down as follows:
- Wave 6, Deluxe 2 set (Colossus Rex, Horrorscope & Ohpromatem) – Beta/White Star Edition – $35
- Wave 7, Deluxe 3 set (Gamma-X, Jack Asteroid & Terra Firma) – Beta/White Star Edition – $35

Customizers, this may be the deal of the year.    (But kindly let me buy my set before you chop these all up.)

More White Star Outer Space Men Figures Coming!

At Power-Con over the weekend, the Four Horsemen showed off a bunch of new stuff - including previously-unseen Outer Space Men White Star figures.
Picture stolen from Action Figure Insider.  Seen here for the first time are White Star Gamma X, Colossus Rex, Terra Firma, Jack Asteroid, Horroscope, and Ohprometam.

I didn't see any word on pricing, release dates, or confirmation on if these will be sold with the three figures not yet seen in White Star colors (Cyclops, Gemini, Orbitron.)  If they were in fact on sale at the show, I sure as heck haven't found a report mentioning it yet.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Alpha 11 (Alpha 7) Action Figure

The idea behind the Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Edition was seemingly new takes on the existing figures, but the funny thing is that Alpha 11 (Alpha 7) is an actual, unrealized vintage concept. Mel Birnkrant posted his shots of the original, which gives it a Mickey Mouse-esque head and a super-cool "Star Hopper" vehicle that I would really love to have had included with this new release. Instead, we get the 2011 Alpha 7 with new paint, which isn't a bad thing.

Tangent: Major Matt Mason-inspired Glyos Scorpio Custom

Check out this Matt Doughty-engineered custom Glyos build inspired by Major Matt Mason Scorpio at Onell Design!

Major Matt Mason is the line which inspired Mel Birnkrant and Colorforms to release the original Outer Space Men, which inspired Mattel to make a few of their own aliens, all of which inspired Matt Doughty to do Glyos, which the Four Horsemen used to remake the Outer Space Men in Glyos form, and now we've got this guy. Whew!

Sadly this unique build from Mr. Doughty does not appear to be for sale, but the pieces to make it - and several other new figures - will go up for sale at 9:30 PM Eastern on Sunday, September 8.  Click here for details.

White Star Outer Space Men Price Drop

Did you buy the 8-pack of White Star Outer Space Men Action Figures at Comic-Con? I did.  And we're suckers, because ActionFigureXpress marked it down 20% from $114.99 to the much more reasonable $91.99.
It's a much better price for plain white figures with a few blue highlights.  They are by no means remarkable, but if you're planning on collecting them all (and mathematically, you aren't) it's a chance to get them on the cheap.  Or you can wait for another markdown and get some great custom fodder.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Gamma X Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Gamma X Action FigureAs one of the final unproduced "original" Outer Space Men, Gamma X benefits from years of history and is a bit of a toy legend in that the original 1969 prototype didn't yield a mass-produced toy until this one. For those dying for a Gamma X figure of their own, truly it is a great day. For those just wanting a neat figure, it's OK. Feeling like a mutation of the previously-released Electron+, the concept of a man from beyond time was a sound one - the original concept of a glow-in-the-dark figure in clear crystal armor - but as a clear unpainted guy in a blue suit, the complete package is just not all that exciting. Individual components, on the other hand, are pretty amazing.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Terra Firma Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Terra Firma Action FigureThe first "new" prototype figure shown to the world was Terra Firma. She was a big surprise at the Futuretro show in New York back in 2012, even though she's visible (barely) on an art print sold at the show. She's also a fairly adult release in an updated children's line, owing her look to the cartoon art of old Playboy magazines. This certainly helps her stay in that 1960s vibe, despite being designed rather recently.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Blue Angel Commander Comet Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Blue Angel Commander Comet Action FigureExtending the life of the Outer Space Men is a tricky proposition - you've got a line with limited marketing and limited appeal, so rather than get tens of thousands of people to buy 1 of each figure, you get hundreds of people to buy seven or eight of each figure. The strategy results in some increasingly clever creations, including Blue Angel Commander Comet. Mel Birnkrant did us a solid by describing his creative process at length, so go ahead and read that when you're done gawking at the pictures.

Cosmic Creators Outer Space Men 2013 - Arriving

They're here! I was lucky enough to get the box today - as usual my postman neither knocks nor rings the bell, but throws down the box as hard as possible so I can hear it in another room.  Courtesy of the top-notch packing job from TheOuterSpaceMen.com, this new Cosmic Creators Outer Space Men Mel Birnkrant Edition came through perfectly - with a bonus mug, to boot.

According to the forums, some figures have alternate Commander Comet helmets (purple on one side and blue on the other) so that may be a variant to watch for.  Everything is coming up sunshine, and it's worth noting the weapons are that shiny vac-metal we all love and not the duller gold paint!  At press time I have yet to open mine, but I got set #111.  Each has Mel Birnkrant's signature and is hand-numbered.

It's also worth noting that Alpha 11 is cast in a clear colorless plastic and is painted - just like Metamorpho from the "2.0" line.

TheOuterSpaceMen.com still has 19 sets available at press time.  For $20/figure ($80/set) I can safely say it ain't bad - especially since unpainted figures creeped up to $20 earlier this year.

Reviews and more images should go up in the next few days, for the seven people who read this blog.  (Tell your friends!)

Shipping: 2013 Edition Cosmic Creators Outer Space Men

For real this time!  The delayed Cosmic Creators Birnkrant Edition Outer Space Men action figures for 2013 have shipped - I've received my shipping notice and at least one person on the Twitter has confirmed receipt of said figures.  (It appears mine will be here on Monday.)

According to TheOuterSpaceMen.com, 19 sets remain of this quartet. At $80, the set is priced similarly to this year's SDCC Alpha Phase exclusives but has significantly more paint.  We'll start reviewing these guys soon, with the first one likely going up mid-week next week.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men White Star Astro-Nautilus Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men White Star Astro-Nautilus Action FigureWhile I've been hoping for "blank" or "unpainted" opaque figures like White Star Astro-Nautilus for a while now, I always imagined them cheaper and sold individually. A giant boxed set of 8 figures with practically no paint screams "completeist only," which is no doubt why the 200-set run didn't sell out at Comic-Con and why people aren't exactly screaming to get these. A few samples were being flipped on eBay for $200 per boxed set, but oddly nobody is splitting up the sets to sell singles just yet. Given the increasing prices and decreasing customer base for the line, I hope future, similar sets are sold individually just to encourage less-hardcore fans to jump on board. Were I new to this line, dropping $240 on 14 figures at 1 booth at a show would be pretty terrifying.

New Outer Space Men Painted Photos from Mel Birnkrant

It's time for finals! Already!   The great Mel Birnkrant reached out to the blog to say howdy and share links to dozens of new photos and stories about the upcoming and presumably close-to-final Outer Space Men action figures.

Jack Asteroid, Terra Firma, Gamma X, Colossus Rex, Ophrometam, and Horroscope are all shown in hand-painted, beautifully photographed glory.

No word on release dates or upcoming prices, but for those of us itching for a closer and clearer look at these figures, well, it's certainly a great way to wrap up the week.  Check 'em out!

White Star Edition Outer Space Men IN STOCK Now

The Action Figure Xpress exclusive White Star Edition Outer Space Men Action Figures are up for pre-order as I type this. It's $114.99, same as at the show.

The set is one big box with 8 bagged figures inside.  Each figure is cast in white, unpainted plastic with a few blue highlights on eyes, weapons, and chest symbols.  Each figure has some clear blue element with the sole exception of Inferno.   Figures do not have any black splotches or unpainted white bits, as the previous images were mock-ups and not the final product.  They're pretty good - I have a set here and I'm still going through them, but they're basically exactly what you would hope for.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Colossus Rex Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Alpha Phase Colossus Rex Action FigureThis figure was a long time coming - Colossus Rex was first shown, fully-painted, to the public at Comic-Con in July 2011. As of my writing this, I've been home from SDCC for mere hours and I just popped this figure open - and it's incredibly great, if you like this kind of thing. Based on the 1968 original design from Colorforms, this new figure comes packaged with Horroscope and Ohproatem in a box rather than in bags with header cards. Interestingly, my sets were swapped - the box showed the opposite set's characters on it instead, for both packs. As far as I know they're all like this so don't have a heart attack when you open the first box - it's probably the correct set.

Note: there were a whopping 14 figures sold from this line at SDCC 2013.  We do not anticipate reviewing them all in the immediate future, so hang in there.

Quick Overview: 2013 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Outer Space Men Alpha Wave

They made it! They weren't available until Friday, but the latest Outer Space Men did indeed show up and reviews will start popping up on this very blog this week - we're just getting back from the show so there's a lot to unpack.  Here's a quick rundown.

- The set of 6 was $120, making this the most expensive Alpha wave yet at $20 per figure.  Last year's was $50 for 3 figures, or $16.66 per figure.
- This was the first Alpha Phase to not come with any bagged figures with stapled header cards.  All came in sealed bags inside a small white box.
- The box has no individual figure names on the outside.
- The sets were mispackaged with my sample - the figures came in the opposing boxes.
- The flags are not well made. The stickers keep coming unglued - you can squeeze them together but they begin to separate.  Expect to reglue or replace them within a few months to a year.
- The Outer Space Women have difficulty standing due to their poses.
- The Outer Space Women cannot sit with their legs at a 90-degree angle.

Overall it's a nice wave - Colossus Rex is the clear winner (literally) and will be reviewed here on Tuesday.  Gamma-X is quite good, but cannot sit with his armor attached.  The Jack Asteroid and Terra Firma helmets are three-piece contraptions with flip-up visors.  Ohpramatem and Horroscope share a bunch of parts, and the transforming head gimmicks work great.  Horroscope has a two-piece head that separates at the tentacles. And I got work to do so more later.

Outer Space Men SDCC Exclusives Finally Revealed

After some delay, 6 new pictures and some news got posted to SourceHorsemen.com!   Horrorscope (pictured) looks great, and due to a delay the figures are expected to go on sale after noon on Thursday (today).  I of course shall be there.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Infinity Edition Cyclops Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Infinity Edition Cyclops Action FigureThe Outer Space Men line has been on a pretty level trajectory since its start in 2010, with figures basically meeting expectations as to what you get for your $10 $12.50 $13-$26. As the first "deluxe" sized creature in this line, Cyclops is a massive, impressive, exquisitely detailed action figure. But is it worth $26 next to his $13ish siblings? That's debatable, but it's still the best space cyclops you'll ever see. It's like a monster out of The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, only, you know, blue. And not vaguely hairy.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cyclops Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cyclops Action FigureI dig Cyclops even if red doesn't shoot all that well. We've had plenty of red clear Outer Space Men (Inferno, Astro-Nautilus, Mystron, Commander Comet) so why not do one more? The big beast looks great in red, in person at least. Red can be tricky to shoot right, but if you're not an expert in photography they're all a little tricky. I am not an expert.

He's really big, and has all of the perks and shortcomings of his clear brothers. As a heavier figure, the Glyos joints strain slightly under the weight and may sag if the figure is not balanced properly. The plastic doesn't warp, but the figure will slowly tip forward and, eventually, nosedive off a shelf if left alone and unbalanced for a few days. Aside from that, it's a really solid figure: it feels like you could kill a rat with this thing, and he's fairly well jointed as Glyos figures go. With roughly 14 joints of merit, the figure can assume a few poses beyond what you see in the pictures. Each joint only swivels, so there's no bending knees or elbows here and it tends to be a little more noticeable than on the smaller guys. The Horsemen opted out of including bent arms here as well, so instead you have the option of closed fists to hold his extra eyes (the ray guns) or open fists which resemble the original prototype's hands.

Pre-Order Outer Space Men 2013 Alpha Phase Figures Now

Good news! You can pre-order the 2013 Outer Space Men San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives from the Four Horsemen right now.  (Not so good news: each 3-pack is now $60, making the 6 figures $120 before shipping.)  These are not for at-show pick-up, I assume it'll be like other years where you just walk up and buy it.  At $12, shipping isn't actually all that shabby.  Click here to order.

Pictures are not posted at this time, but here's the breakdown:

Wave 6 with Deluxe Wave 2
Colossus Rex - Clear Green
Horroscope - Clear Purple
Ohpromatem - Clear Smoke Grey

Wave 1 with Deluxe Wave 3
Gamma X - Clear Colorless
Jack Asteroid - Clear Orange
Terra Firma - Clear Orange

I'll be picking mine up at the show, barring a sell-out.

For those keeping track, this makes the tally 14 SDCC exclusive Outer Space Men so far, for a grand total of $235.00.  ($16.79 per figure on average.)

Outer Space Men Trading Cards Update

Back in 2010, we reported that Outer Space Men Trading Cards were coming from Tom Lichtman, of SideKick Trading Card Publishing, also known as SideKick Labs.  The manufacturer had a 2011 target release date, and at New York Comic Con 2011 the company had other products available - specifically Sucklord's SuxPax -  but no Outer Space Men!  So did the deal fall through, or are we still waiting for something?

Earlier this week I fired off a message to the affable Gary Schaeffer, the man behind TheOuterSpaceMen.com and many of the business dealings with this brand.  It was shared with me that the cards were not produced in a timely manner and other circumstances resulted in the parties between Outer Space Men and SideKick Labs not going forward with the project as of February 2012 - so it's been dead for quite some time.

Mr. Schaeffer shared that The Outer Space Men LLC are indeed interested from hearing non-sports card entities interested in producing cards based on the property.

Schaeffer contined, "Chase cards, artist cards, Mel [Birnkrant]'s own cards and more are slated to be in the collection." The level of detail sounded impressive -  "[Tom Lichtman of SideKick] even has individually wrapped in cello for safety exact tasting gum sticks that will accompany the cards," Schaeffer said, highlighting that many of the cards would have been produced to have a retro, older feel using equipment to replicate the kind of cards used 40 years ago down to the chewable sugary gum sticks.

Alas, it was not to be - a few hundred sample cards were printed, and that's as far as production ultimately got.

Special thanks to Gary Schaeffer for his time and assistance on this!

New Painted 2013 Outer Space Men Prototype Shots

New! Shots of the 2013 Outer Space Men are up at FourHorsemen.biz, showing off how the figures will be grouped this time around.  If you're just looking to complete your set of the vintage characters, that ain't going to happen because each one is paired with two brand-new characters.  (I for one dig it.)

The post also teases that the Alpha Phase 2013 figures - one-color clear figures - will be announced soon with pre-orders and pricing, but that information is not yet available.

Were I a betting man, I'd say $50 per trio which brings your San Diego Comic-Con Outer Space Men tally to 14 figures at an estimate of $215.

Cosmic Creators 2013 Outer Space Men Delayed

I got a few emails and tweets asking what was going on with these, as it was previously hinted the Cosmic Creators Mel Birnkrant Edition Waves 3 and 4 of Outer Space Men would be shipped in the near future.  36 of the 200 sets remain up for grabs.

Today, a tweet from @Outer_Space_Men reads as follows:

"...the figures will be in NY July 18"

So let's all stop watching those mail boxes every day like I've been doing.  If there are any new updates, we'll share them as soon as we can!

SDCC: AFX Gets 8 Exclusive White Star Outer Space Men

The Four Horsemen and Shop AFX have new White Star Edition Outer Space Men coming for San Diego Comic-Con 2013! Eight figures are bagged and put into a box, with white painted figures featuring clear blue or painted blue accessories.

The set of 8 figures is currently online for at-show pick-up pre-orders only.   $115 gets you the set, or about $14.38 per figure.  Only 200 sets are being produced, so like other recent non-infinity edition sets it's a fairly low run.  (And yes I pre-ordered mine.)

Hopefully we'll get a peek at the 2013 Alpha Phase figures soon - last year's were revealed on May 15, 2012 so it's gotta be due soon!

Massive Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Update

There are two things you may wish to see:
1. A new Four Horsemen update riddled with news on their many lines, and
2. The Updated 2013 Outer Space Men Checklist

Here's the short of it:
A. The line for 2013 will be expanded to 6 rather than the usual 3 or 4 figures, including Ohpromatem, Horroscope, Gamma-X, Colossus Rex, Jack Asteroid, and Terra Firma
B. In addition to the usual Alpha Phase figures, Action Figure Xpress will have additional waves of exclusive figures for San Diego Comic-Con in June
C. Gamma-X and Colossus Rex are being touted as "Premium" and "Deluxe" figures respectively, which probably means premium pricing.

With this in mind, it would be prudent to anticipate spending at least $100 if not $150 this July on this line alone - that's a lot of figures!

More details are promised on Monday.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Gemini Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Gemini Action FigureSometimes a high price stings for a long time, and with Gemini time has softened it a bit. It still hurts, particularly given how lush the fully-painted figure looked when he showed up at my house recently at a lower price to boot. But I do love orange. So much. Gemini is one of only two figures to be cast in orange so far, the other being Xodiac from the very first release of these figures back in 2010. Both the orange and the yellow plastics match fairly closely, making this a worthwhile bright and shiny addition to your toy shelf. If you've got a little extra cash to waste, that is, otherwise just get the painted one.

Review: Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Infinity Edition Gemini Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Infinity Edition Gemini Action FigureOne of the unfortunate thing about the Outer Space Men line is that we get unpainted exclusives of each figure roughly six months prior to the official painted releases, and in that time expectations can start to go up. Gemini, with his high piece count, looked like he was going to be fantastic, and the truth is he turned out quite well. The only real drawback I found was sort of nitpicky, and that's with the deco. Molded in white plastic (like the rest of this series) the figure's yellow paint seems a little rougher than the rest of the line, which tends to be pretty clean and glossy. For all I know, it's just my sample, but it definitely lacks the sort of polish that the other dozen or more painted figures have received so far. Thankfully the silver face paint and clear helmets turned out perfectly, so the end result is a very good action figure that, in nearly any other line, would be spectacular. With wave mates like Cyclops it's hard to look awesome, but the sculpting makes this a fairly weighty release.
