That's who gets opened - so I just grabbed Jack since he's been one of <i>many</i> glow or white OSM who needed to finally be opened up. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">[ <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/240111-osm-cr-jack-asteroid.shtml">READ THE FULL REVIEW</a> ] <br /></span></p><p><br /></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-74782130870481652452023-12-16T12:10:00.001-07:002023-12-16T12:11:36.826-07:00New Figure: Zollmen x OSM Astro-Nautlius<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://theouterspacemen.com/product/2024-zollmen-x-osm-astro-nautilus-bullmark-sofubi-pre-order" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="240" data-original-width="180" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpWxJ_2KORvpxtqJ25QpB9rUpug9QRt9DgvtIz0nnauWtGvXvn0Rx1diGTnOpJyqql45apcE4aIeeTdPtatDV5vG86z4nrVkg7NfGrx9ciM1sH1afpAP-FQBW24V9LiRzCOVsKJDOcGfsvG3ldE1XRZ__YvY1EzzqOP0NIZBakc95a4zwSLm9wblRZB3qf/s1600/1218os.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>After the program of giant-siz<i>e </i>The Outer Space Men vinyl figures at pretty fair prices seems to have ended, we now have the reveal of the 50 piece <b><a href="https://theouterspacemen.com/product/2024-zollmen-x-osm-astro-nautilus-bullmark-sofubi-pre-order">2024 ZOLLMEN X OSM ASTRO NAUTILUS BULLMARK SOFUBI</a></b> figure. It's a 12-inch figure styled to look like the Bullmark releases, which is good. It's limited to 50, which isn't great. until about 10 years ago. He's neat! Peak midcentury design with
nifty b-movie antennae, clamp-on armor, and a couple of blasters make
for a notable figure. <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/160913-osm-glow-gamma-x.shtml">You can get him in green</a>,
a painted version, or a white version - but the blue one is pretty
spectacular. The blue back armor is glow plastic with a painted blue

do that. At this point I recognize that what I'm paying for is a big
wall of glowing blue plastic more than an action figure I'm going to

time goes on - especially when it's a repaint of a figure you have to
look like another figure you have. I'd love to see more variations on
this mold, and while glow is exactly the kind of thing I want (and
bought) she's just another glowing figure on a shelf of glowing figures.

never know how time will change your favorites! This was the last of
the four "Galactic Holiday" figures I opened from the 2022 series. <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/230331-osm-gh-darkoneth-cthulhu-nautilus.shtml"> <b>Galactic Holiday Darkoneth of the Voidrillion Command Cthulhu Nautilus</b></a> is a redeco of the somehow still incredibly striking <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/180821-osm-cthulhu-nautilus.shtml">Outer Space Men Cthulhu Nautilus Action Figure [FOTD #2,015]</a>
from 2018. The metallic skin, gorgeous clear blue eyes, striking
metallic blue costume, and shiny gold trim made it a perfect figure
right out of the gate. We weren't subject to Alpha Phase prepaints, it
was just blammo - here is a stunningly weird statement of space toy
awesomeness, and it was a then-whopping $35, and I still love it. But
we later got a green version from Onell Design, a plain white version,
green and blue glow versions... and none of them were as impressive as
the original, although that green one is a personal favorite. This
purple alien one looks like some amazingly weird late-1980s toy (or
bronze-age comic nightmare) and the colors drastically change the look
and feel of the figure. It's kind of amazing how the Glyos figures,
thanks to their ongoing repaints, can highlight different aspects of a
toy and make you see a figure you have in a new light.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">[ <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/230331-osm-gh-darkoneth-cthulhu-nautilus.shtml">READ THE FULL REVIEW</a> ] <br /></span></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-26779965957666752912023-03-17T01:00:00.004-07:002023-03-17T01:00:00.147-07:00Review: Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Voidrillia of the Voidrillion Command Luna Eclipse Action Figure<p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/230303-osm-gh-voidrillia-luna-eclipse.shtml" rel="lightbox[2523-osm-xmas-Luna]"><img align="left" alt="The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Voidrillia of the Voidrillion Command Luna Eclipse Action Figure" border="2" hspace="9" src="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/fotd-pics2/2523-osm-xmas-Luna2-tn.jpg" vspace="4" /></a>I like this <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/230303-osm-gh-voidrillia-luna-eclipse.shtml"><b>Galactic Holiday Voidrillia of the Voidrillion Command Luna Eclipse</b></a>
because her colors don't match any other human action figures I have in
my toybox. She stands out. This 3 3/4-inch scale repaint of a
resculpt turned out well, but according to Matt Doughty has some design
connections to <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200414-glyos-cyma-queen-kirallius.shtml">Queen Kirallius [FOTD #2,186]</a>, the figure from early 2020 that you regret missing. As a repaint of the original <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/211216-osm-cr-luna-eclipse.shtml">Luna Eclipse [FOTD #2,371]</a>,
she has pretty much the same form factor. You can swap arms between
bent and straight, she has a backpack, and there's a removable helmet
with an opening visor. The figure one-ups the previous releases by
adding a pair of blasters from the Cyclops action figure and a wild
paint job, but you lose the glow-in-the-dark elements. Win some, lose

Mine have mostly been content to sit on a shelf for a few years, and I'd pull out some of the painted or glowing ones to shoot photos - but it turns out, they were quietly molting when I wasn't looking. If you look at packaged Mystron Infinity Edition figures on eBay, if the photography is recent, you'll notice some telltale glistening on some parts.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhtxI1PEPZMGSgdctwdPWtjyfTYNpa1U06i52quxU84oNpNGFgpXLhlnBHH-KKTOVZnlnaOyRjMQFD9CJb1oX8ZDzZDCoL7Qv2LHDX9seLJtam48EctbGCwmAJLa0kt3EApFWSF4mEyXQpFb3qpxjYqu-2sezd8cvpbceOpA8T7xPz6x0Qy80ZcelGYQ/s2048/IMG_3944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhtxI1PEPZMGSgdctwdPWtjyfTYNpa1U06i52quxU84oNpNGFgpXLhlnBHH-KKTOVZnlnaOyRjMQFD9CJb1oX8ZDzZDCoL7Qv2LHDX9seLJtam48EctbGCwmAJLa0kt3EApFWSF4mEyXQpFb3qpxjYqu-2sezd8cvpbceOpA8T7xPz6x0Qy80ZcelGYQ/s320/IMG_3944.JPG" width="320" /></a></div></div><p></p><p>If you have 2010 or 2011 clear figures, or the painted Mystron, give them a look. Mystron's black painted wings, gargoyle gun, and tail have gone sticky for a lot of fans - you can wash them with warm water, soap, and maybe a very soft toothbrush or cloth. Meanwhile, it seems all of the clear (non-glow) figures from 2010 and 2011 are a little sticky - so your Alpha Phase, Beta Phase, and Galactic Holiday figures of Inferno, Metamorpho, Xodiac, Astro-Nautilus, Mystron, Alpha-7, Electron+, and Commander Comet could use a bit of a hosing down.</p><p>Further, any Galactic Holiday figures with vac-metal parts that aren't silver or gold may be discoloring the PVC of the figures. If there are Glyos pegs or closed fists around a vac-metal red/blue/green/etc. part, check around the hands or sockets. Alpha-7 and Gemini seem to be fine since there was no tight grip there, but I've definitely noticed some discoloration around the fists of Galactic Holiday Mystron, Cyclops, and others as I start to see who needs to be scrubbed a bit.</p><p>The same is true for a lot of Glyos figures from 2010-2011 - check your Pheydens, Sarvoses, Callgrims, and so forth just in case. Plastics sometimes molt a bit, or off-gas, or shed some sort of oils with time. It's good to check them regularly to see what, if anything, needs to be wiped down. I've got an old Kenner Bossk figure that seems to have extruded some of the yellow dye from his suit recently!<br /></p><br />Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-3489842747631811002023-02-02T02:00:00.005-07:002023-02-02T02:00:00.150-07:00Review: Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Command Colossus Rex Action Figure<p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/230202-osm-gh-colossus-rex.shtml" rel="lightbox[2508-osm-xmas-Colossus]"><img align="left" alt="The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Command Colossus Rex Action Figure" border="2" hspace="9" src="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/fotd-pics2/2508-osm-xmas-Colossus2-tn.jpg" vspace="4" /></a>I have plenty of <i>The Outer Space Men</i> figures. I really didn't need this <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/230202-osm-gh-colossus-rex.shtml"><b>Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Command Colossus Rex</b></a>
but, also, I did. These guys are a lot of fun to mess with thanks to
their accessories and how they scale with a lot of my favorite childhood
figures... plus they look like they could have and indeed should have
been in the background of 1970s space comic books. Mr. Rex was based on
a bendy figure from Colorforms from 1969 who was big and green and had a
mace. In 2013, the very first pull of the mold came out and the
manufacturers added an armor, a big axe, and a shield along with
alternate hands. It was a lot of plastic, and the hefty Jovian stands
five inches high.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">[ <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/230202-osm-gh-colossus-rex.shtml">READ THE FULL REVIEW</a> ] <br /></span></p><p><br /></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-50381964685493725902023-01-26T01:00:00.004-07:002023-01-26T01:00:00.157-07:00Review: Galactic Holiday Voidrillion Command Orbitron Action Figure<p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/230126-osm-gh-orbitron.shtml" rel="lightbox[2505-osm-xmas-Orbitron]"><img align="left" alt="The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Voidrillion Command Orbitron Action Figure" border="2" hspace="9" src="http://16bit.com/fotd/fotd-pics2/2505-osm-xmas-Orbitron2-tn.jpg" vspace="4" /></a>I feel kind of silly that I still get really excited for new <i>The Outer Space Men</i>
figures. If I'm getting a new head or an all-new paint job, it's
difficult for me to be cynical. When the quartet that includes <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/230126-osm-gh-orbitron.shtml"><b>Galactic Holiday Voidrillion Command Orbitron</b></a>
dropped in December I went from "Well I skipped wave 2 and beyond for
Bluestar" to "Get my wallet" in about 4 seconds. They're weird magical
beings. I shouldn't spend too much time being concerned about this, I'm
just going to throw on a Les Baxter record and write about the silly
space man.</span></p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><p>[ <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/230126-osm-gh-orbitron.shtml">READ THE FULL REVIEW</a> ] <br /></p></span><p></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-66167915690898605232022-12-31T11:11:00.003-07:002022-12-31T11:18:29.998-07:00The Outer Space Men Maximilian Gravity and Jack Asteroid Bluestar Figures On Sale at $15<p> <a href="https://theouterspacemen.com/product-category/bluestar/">The Outer Space Men</a> pulled another rabbit out of their hat with <a href="https://theouterspacemen.com/product-category/bluestar/">Jack Asteroid and Maximilian Gravity (Zero Gravity) Bluestar blue glow-in-the-dark action figures</a> at $15 each. since some point in 2018 - but didn't open it until about three weeks
ago, in part because I was holding back on a bunch of White Star and
Cosmic Radiation figures to talk about when we got new molds or new
painted figures. Turns out, that didn't happen - other than Bluestar
figures and a couple of big Sofubi special edition custom jobs, the line
has been more or less dormant. Which is unfortunate, we were shown a
jumbo sofubi Astro-Nautilus and told to expect some more things for the
lines 50th anniversary. Well, at least we've got mountains of pretty
great 3 3/4-inch figures to enjoy!</p><p>[ <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/221124-osm-cr-ohpromatem.shtml">READ THE FULL REVIEW</a> ] <br /></p></span>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-88526601518096187432022-10-29T22:54:00.001-07:002022-10-29T22:54:39.016-07:00Who Wore It Best? Inferno (2010) plus The Human Torch and Firestar<p>It seems like a good time for The Outer Space Men to put on costumes for Halloween!</p><p>While there's not much news going on in The Outer Space Men line these days, there's still plenty to like - old figures can be had for varying levels of "not bad" on eBay if you're lucky, and they're still one of the more fun lines to play around with if you have more toys. I started picking up some of Hasbro's Marvel Legends 375 figures - the "Kenner" branded ones from 2020-present - and was thinking "hey, there's a photo I would like to see."</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjib6oll-WkDgZOMcgVzY7tuAN2r3Cc_65hadWM_ZeoO6rdYwOH4gcimBDXvmz0BLpE6lbgLxyz8l5kM6M_QqOEhJMyvtEATa8UhbCt38jyN5aTi8YKHmyPF1-0hkQGS_5inOvuvAk08Hh21rV-51dbf78GrJ9VMsXF2xw9qJ__7j2aozbzsM6vc2c-Zw/s2048/2476-mvl-375-fire10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjib6oll-WkDgZOMcgVzY7tuAN2r3Cc_65hadWM_ZeoO6rdYwOH4gcimBDXvmz0BLpE6lbgLxyz8l5kM6M_QqOEhJMyvtEATa8UhbCt38jyN5aTi8YKHmyPF1-0hkQGS_5inOvuvAk08Hh21rV-51dbf78GrJ9VMsXF2xw9qJ__7j2aozbzsM6vc2c-Zw/s320/2476-mvl-375-fire10.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /> The Inferno Alpha Phase and Beta Phase figures were red and yellow respectively, so I swapped some parts around to give you this no-doubt thrilling photo.<p></p><p>It's worth noting that the Inferno figures - from 2010, so they've both just turned 12 - are starting to feel a tiny bit tacky, a little sticky, as often happens with some plastic figures as they age. Usually as they off-gas or whatever mold release oils work their way out, you might get some sticky or slick old figures - especially 1980s or 1970s Kenner figures. I've generally found wiping them down with a damp cloth makes them feel like new again and so far, I've never had to go back and do it a second time.</p><p>Also, hi to Gary and Mel, everybody hopes you're all well and maybe working on some other cool thing to share with us if you're so inclined some day.<br /></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-52965922499756633792022-09-25T19:53:00.003-07:002022-09-25T19:53:36.086-07:002010-2012 The Outer Space Men Shine With Cheap Black Light Strips<p>Your local Walmart is loaded with dirt-cheap USB LED light strips. On Saturday, I picked up the LEDeez Black Light LED Light Strip for under $6. I hooked it up to a power bank and waltzed around with it to see how it did - it's good! It's not as bright as a good UV Light Flashlight, but it certainly gets the job done.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgXG9anOXryHMzlqgiAsIFUXKX_5nv-J2yDqRsqxU256mlj695mnBOpPmFDEZEy7GmQjPcDE1ZOiOUNTOBgCxORTKnFPLJaF5M5xv_nQ2tx6pPgaNx7ovGa8mrrmDfu1XIKR5Z2lPX2IQTV8Mxq3ieTzltA2Dy0NhlxTJFtlB4Sm71FL0tEdeX1YsaZJA" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgXG9anOXryHMzlqgiAsIFUXKX_5nv-J2yDqRsqxU256mlj695mnBOpPmFDEZEy7GmQjPcDE1ZOiOUNTOBgCxORTKnFPLJaF5M5xv_nQ2tx6pPgaNx7ovGa8mrrmDfu1XIKR5Z2lPX2IQTV8Mxq3ieTzltA2Dy0NhlxTJFtlB4Sm71FL0tEdeX1YsaZJA" width="320" /></a></div><br />Here it is near some 2010-2012 The Outer Space Men Alpha, Beta, and Holiday Phase figures as well as some of the Onell Design crossovers. (Remember those? Man Onell Design did some gorgeous colorways and I hope we see a few more.) The blue glow Bluestar figures don't react well to this particular black light strip, and while they do OK with a UV flashlight, they really do best after being exposed to sunlight. And by "do best" I mean "can glow for over 8 hours after a good Sun charge." The Whitestar figures do shine quite nicely under the light too.</p><p>Despite some work being done on the line, there hasn't been much news - most if not all of the Bluestar figures have come out (and some have sold out once or twice), and we've seen no news on the new giant vinyl Astro-Nautilus in some time. New painted colorways were mentioned/teased/winked about for the line's 50th anniversary, but that has come and gone. I don't know if The Outer Space Men have much of a future beyond customs and the recent NFT releases, but I'm crossing my fingers for at least a few more painted editions - or unpainted solid color editions - before the molds are retired. (Can I just buy a run? Can I afford it? You know where to reach me, Gary and Mel and/or Matt.)<br /></p><p></p>Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-19443993618477176522020-10-31T17:19:00.001-07:002020-10-31T17:22:20.283-07:00Bluestar Outer Space Men Series 3 Revealed, Pricing<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CHBXswlg5kG/" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="776" data-original-width="614" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3kcB5X2iWXOtokG-fLUhzSTmS1V-aUQmgWAhJvAKe122_lVgtWCx0jiv3hpW9YEo53a9-jLC__zuxwhvzxjYxmRe2kDvVbXSNsdQ_mhr_olFeJT1I-yd-HFzLWdTOFoCVsHrJxZ80AUXZ/s320/Screen+Shot+2020-10-31+at+5.00.36+PM.png" /></a></div>Gary from Team Outer Space Men sent us a note that the 3-pack of Cyclops, Gemini, and Orbitron are coming! As the fates foretold, <a href="https://theouterspacemen.com/product-category/bluestar/"><b>Wave 2 of the Bluestar Outer Space Men are live now</b></a>. (It is uncertain if they are in-stock or a pre-order.) Like the last batch they're $25.00 each plus shipping, and come with a wide array of accessories.<br />
<br />
The glow-in-the-dark blue plastic is incredibly bright when properly charged, and the wave one figures turned out really well. If you are so inclined, you'll probably love them. The Glyos system works great for these 3 3/4-inch scale figures, plus things that glow in the dark are generally always nice.Adam16bithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17369348859276892966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3029654808177192771.post-60469654087118762962020-08-27T00:00:00.000-07:002020-08-27T00:00:04.673-07:00Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Xodiac Action Figure <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">Who loves more of the same, but different? <a href="http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200827-osm-gitd-2019-blue-xodiac.shtml"> <b>Bluestar Xodiac</b></a>
brings you the same basic color layout of the Cosmic Radiation edition,
but now with blue glow plastic and light blue painted highlights - and
two helmets. You get a bit more here than a basic Xodiac, but it also
costs more than double what the figure did in its debut 10 years ago.
Is it worth it? If you like blue glow, yes, yes it is.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: small;">As shared experiences go, toys are great. Unfortunately <i>The Outer Space Men</i>
are one not shared by my peers - they're before my time, but I love the
designs as sci-fi space race-era toys go ever since I saw them in
Action Figure Digest, which was a real magazine a million years ago.
For this reason, <a href="http://16bit.com/fotd/200723-osm-gitd-2019-blue-metamorpho.shtml"><b>Bluestar Metamorpho</b></a> is a fun, weird figure that stands on his own.
