Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Jack Asteroid Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Jack Asteroid Action FigureIt's kind of funny, but it's possible that Cosmic Radiation Jack Asteroid sat unreviewed in my house for close to five years - I picked up a lot of these guys to open and enjoy, but also to review, and the reviews frequently take precedence. Who needs to be written and shot quickly? That's who gets opened - so I just grabbed Jack since he's been one of many glow or white OSM who needed to finally be opened up.

Review: The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Ohpromatem Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Ohpromatem Action FigureWhen toy lines slow down, and display space dries up, things stay in a box for a while. I've had Cosmic Radiation Ohpromatem since some point in 2018 - but didn't open it until about three weeks ago, in part because I was holding back on a bunch of White Star and Cosmic Radiation figures to talk about when we got new molds or new painted figures. Turns out, that didn't happen - other than Bluestar figures and a couple of big Sofubi special edition custom jobs, the line has been more or less dormant. Which is unfortunate, we were shown a jumbo sofubi Astro-Nautilus and told to expect some more things for the lines 50th anniversary. Well, at least we've got mountains of pretty great 3 3/4-inch figures to enjoy!

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Cthulhu Nautilus Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Cthulhu Nautilus Action FigureI probably don't need to review Cosmic Radiation Cthulhu Nautilus because you should, by now, know what to expect. The figure has removable parts, sports a lot of articulation, glows brighter than most action figures, and features better than expected silver highlights.

Review: 12-Inch Outer Space Men Sofubi Glow in the Dark Colossus Rex Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Sofubi Glow in the Dark Colossus Rex Action FigureThis 12-inch Sofubi Glow in the Dark Colossus Rex was delayed a long time. Customs can take a while... and I have to say when the box finally showed up in October I was almost rolling my eyes, thinking "this can't possibly be worth the price and the wait." Well, it was, and it was. It's gorgeous. It's a glowing beacon. It's incredible and I'm glad they're planning on doing at least a few more of these.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Xodiac Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Xodiac Action FigureFor a toy line that has proven popular, The Outer Space Men captures the imagination with strange designs. Like this one. The Cosmic Radiation Xodiac is the second Xodiac figure to have a beard, so I reached out to series designer Mel Birnkrant to ask what the deal was with the beard - is it meat? Is it hair? "It's both!" He told me - hey, that works.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno Action FigureI'd say "this is a good one," but you know they're all good ones. The Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno the first time the mold has been sold as a glowing figure - that's good! What stinks is that for whatever reason, there are no new glowing red Glyos figures being made. If they jumped on it a few years earlier we'd have flaming, glowing red men from Mercury, but it was not meant to be. At least we got a glowing green one in a surprisingly vast collection of figures.

More Cosmic Radiation Outer Space Men Coming - Inferno This Week!

If you love Cosmic Radiation The Outer Space Men figures - and you know I do! - three more are coming.  The first of which is Inferno, dropping Wednesday, October 11, at 9:00 PM Eastern.  (Or earlier a bit, if history has been any indication.

In addition to Inferno, packaged samples of Inferno and Xodiac were posted to the official Outer Space Men Instagram.   For those keeping track at home, this means Metamorpho, Astrodite, Jack Asteroid, Terra Firma, Ohpromatem, Horroscope are the only figures not yet sold in the Cosmic Radiation style.  According to Gary Schaeffer, a very limited number of carded figures - including a Signed Inferno to celebrate Mel Birnkrant's 80th Birthday - will be going up soon as well.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 Action FigureThat's the stuff. In popular culture, The Outer Space Men got this guy right the first time. He's a little green man, after all. He's also been blue, bluegreen, a creamy color, and in vague Mickey Mouse-esque cosplay. Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 brings one of the more famous toy martians not named Marvin and brings him back to the best hue of the atomic age - atomic glow green. If ever there was a more appropriate combination, I'd like to see it. (Actually, they're all pretty appropriate as glowing figures given the fears of atomic energy in sci-fi schlock of the era.)

New Outer Space Men - Meet Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity

http://melbirnkrant.com/moon/index.html
I missed this - Mel Birnkrant slipped in two new sketchbook pages for upcoming Cosmic Radiation glow-in-the-dark humans from the moon with Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity (new heads and glow bodies for Terra Firma and Jack Asteroid, respectively.)

Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity both come from the dark side of the moon, and feature glowing suits and glowing facial elements.  Luna's hair partially glows, and so does Zero's teeth - designer Mel Birnkrant wrote: "I visualized a big glow in the dark grin, which is something that, in my very limited involvement with action figures, I have never seen."

No release date was given, but these are being tooled along with the long-awaited Astrodite - which we first saw around February 2013.   A four or five year wait is nothing - about half of the Glyos The Outer Space Men figures we've received thus far were based on designs from the 1960s and didn't get produced until the 2010s.   Five years is nothing.

Cosmic Radiation Outer Space Men Alpha 7 - Available Now?

While I got an email today saying Cosmic Radiation Outer Space Men Alpha 7 was available Friday, this link in the store appears to be active now.  He's $20 - and I got one early, and it's awesome.  Due to travel I can't have the review up right now, but it glows, it's cool, and I love it.

As far as  I know, this is all that is planned for now - the girls and the two humans aren't yet announced as glowing figures.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Electron+ Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Electron+ Action FigureI know what you're saying - wasn't there already a glow in the dark version of Electron+? Yes. This new Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Electron+ is cast in a slightly different (and better) glow plastic with more paint highlights and for the first time, bent arms. The original release, for reasons not ever truly revealed, just had the straight arms only. If you just need a glow Electron+, either version is great - but if you want a matching glow set or the very best version you can get, get this new one.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Mystron Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Mystron Action FigureWas he sent here by the devil? No good sir, Cosmic Radiation Mystron's on the level. The same figure mold is back for another go-round, this time in glow plastic with silver highlights. Do we need this? No... but yes.  It glows, it's awesome.

Coming in July - Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Electron+

The first Monday in July! Apparently that's July 7, and you will have a crack at glow-in-the-dark Cosmic Radiation Electron+, so says the official Instagram. You don't need me to tell you this, but it is pretty fantastic and glows a smidgen more brightly than the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Alpha Phase Electron+. It will probably be around $20.
